Heart Walk

The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premier event for raising funds to save lives from this country’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers – heart disease and stroke.

Designed to promote physical activity and heart healthy living, the heart walk creates an environment that's fun and rewarding for the entire family.

Latinas are likely to develop heart disease 10 years earlier than non-Hispanic women. They confront barriers to diagnosis and care, receive lower quality treatment and experience worse health outcome than their caucasian counterparts.

In Chicago, we celebrate the importance of hispanic women and the crucial role they play in our families’ well-being. “A todo Corazón: Celebration de familia, salud y Vida” events will offer opportunities to learn how to live a healthier life for self and family. We host booths and provide heart-health information in family health fairs and festivals.we participate in events conduction by our sponsors and supporters for the hispanic community.

Go Red Por Tu Corazón focuses on family cultural traditions to promote a healthier lifestyle within the hispanic community. Go Red Por Tu Corazón is working with Chicago Hispanic community to help educate Hispanic women about heart disease. We work in churches and community centers to help women and their families live longer, healthier lives.

According to the Office of Minority Health Disparities (OMHD), factors that contribute to poor health outcome among hispanics include language and cultural barriers. The lack of diversity of medical students and healthcare professionals, coupled with ineffective cultural competency training, continues to produce treatment environment that are biased and contribute to health disparities. We offer 16 $2,500 scholarships from the new Go Red Multicultural scholarship fund sponsored by Macy’s.
